For everything we do, we need a "why". Basically, why do you do what you do?
It may seem like an easy question, but think about it for a minute. Ask yourself this question, then keep asking "why?". Get a few layers deep into this why question and you will see this is not easy to answer.
For me, it started off simple - I wanted women to feel beautiful. But it goes deeper than that...
With the technology available right now, it is easy to get lost in this fantasy/Pinterest world we all think we should be living. While I love Pinterest for its bomb recipes just like everyone else; I often find myself wondering why I don't have the perfect house, perfect wardrobe, perfect hair and nails, and of course, the perfect body.
This is where technology is not a great thing. We all think that in the world of Kardashians and Instagram models, we all need to look like them before we will be taken seriously or deemed pretty. <-- WRONG!
Self confidence is what we need to be taken seriously, and guess what, those who are self confident are viewed as more attractive :)
This is where I see Boudoir Photography have a huge impact.
Boudoir Photography is so much more than taking pictures of women in lingerie in risque poses. It is about body positivity, loving the body you have and celebrating it.
Most people automatically assume Boudoir is just a gift for the significant other; and while that is true, the main reason for Boudoir Photography is to fall back in love with yourself.
This is why I shoot Boudoir.
I want to show women of all ages and sizes that they are beautiful in the body they have now. They don't need to change to feel beautiful, they just need to feel empowered.
I want to show my daughter that no matter what she sees on TV, social media (definitely not now, but when she gets to that age...I'm thinking 40...) or what people say, that all she needs to have to feel beautiful is self confidence.
That is a hard trait to come by right now, and I am on a mission to bring self confidence and empowerment back to all women.
